Welcome to the Gold Coast Central group, which services Gold Coast suburbs from Broadbeach to Burleigh, and west into the hinterland.
Most of us know how difficult it can be as a new mum. Your life changes forever with the birth of the first child. When the second (or more) arrives it can feel like you're a new mum all over again. If only they came with instruction books! Luckily there's always someone there to help you, including the midwives and staff at the hospital, your family and friends, your maternal and child health nurse, and services like the Australian Breastfeeding Assocation.
ABA is first and foremost a support group. We aim to give mother-to-mother support and information no matter how you decide to feed your baby. If you feel you need support, or would like to support others, please come along to one of our meetings or social events.
Central Group meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Our Discussion Meetings cover topics including breastfeeding issues (of course!) and also lots of other parenting matters, and are held at either Burleigh Waters Community Centre (Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters) or the Robina Library Meeting Room (Robina Town Centre Drive). Please check our calendar for specific meeting locations and topics.
Our BLISS (Breastfeeding, Laughter, Inspiration, Support and Socialising) Meetings are when we meet at the playground at Robina Town Centre for a chat and a play. We meet outside Toscani’s on the lakeside restaurant precinct at Robina Town Centre – there’s a playground for older children, and a selection of restaurants and cafes to choose from. A trained volunteer breastfeeding counsellor will be present at all our meetings to answer any questions, and provide information about the services offered by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. Partners, friends, grandparents etc are welcome to come along for support.
Our group members come from all different backgrounds and experiences; we are different ages and so are our babies. Some of us are first time mums and some are on our way to producing enough for a football team! We are all brought together by our interest in breastfeeding and the desire to help and support one another.
