Frequently Asked Questions

Help, how can I contact a counsellor?

Counselling

We offer free breastfeeding counselling, information and support to mothers nationally on 1800 mum 2 mum (1800 686 2 686). ( The Breastfeeding Helpline is supported by funding from the Australian Government under the Support Breastfeeding Mums initiative.)
All counsellors are mothers themselves who have successfully breastfed their own children. Counsellors have also undergone an intensive training course with the Australian Breastfeeding Association training unit. Counsellors are volunteers answering calls in their own homes, so please take this into consideration when you call.
Visit the ABA website for information about email counselling or to find out more about our counsellors and training programs.
A counsellor is always present at all of our meetings if you would like to speak to someone personally.

Do you hire breastpumps out?

Electric Breastpump Hire

Yes. Each group offers breastpump hire for their area. Our trained breastfeeding counsellors can provide suggestions and information which may make it easier to express your milk. You can have access to ongoing breastfeeding counselling and support as required. Our counsellors are also mothers themselves, so you can be assured that they really understand your situation. This mother-to-mother support often proves invaluable in helping to overcome any difficulties being experienced. Local contacts are listed on the main and group home pages of this website.

How can I meet local parents?

Meetings

We hold regular meetings where mothers can get together to exchange information, learn and support each other in their roles as parents. A library of breastfeeding and parenting books is available to subscribers at meetings.
